School Uniform

Children are proud to belong to Myrtle Park Primary School and our school uniform helps to promote a sense of community, belonging and the high standards we expect in everything we do.

We encourage children to wear a Myrtle Park logo sweatshirt or cardigan as part of our shared school identity. However, we recognise the importance of keeping uniform affordable for families and a plain red sweatshirt or cardigan is also acceptable.

Good-quality pre-worn branded sweatshirts and cardigans are also regularly available through our Myrtle Park Uniform Hub, subject to size and stock availability. We encourage families to make use of our Uniform Hub – whether to reduce the cost of school uniform or simply to give good-quality uniform another life.

All other uniform items can be purchased as generic items from any retailer.

Please ensure that all items of clothing and footwear are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Our School Uniform

Our school uniform consists of:

• Red sweatshirt or cardigan – we encourage one with the Myrtle Park school logo, although a plain red sweatshirt or cardigan is also acceptable

• Plain white polo shirt

• Plain grey trousers, skirt or pinafore

• Red gingham dress – optional during warmer weather

• Plain white, black or grey socks, or plain black, grey or red tights

• Smart, black, flat and sturdy school shoes – trainers and boots are not part of our usual school uniform

PE Kit

On their designated PE day, children should come to school wearing their PE kit.

Our PE kit is deliberately simple and unbranded so that items can be purchased from a wide range of retailers:

• Plain dark blue shorts (not cycling shorts)

• Plain white T-shirt

• Pumps with a rubber sole

• Trainers for outdoor PE (KS1 and KS2)

• Plain navy-blue jogging bottoms (KS1 and KS2)

• Plain navy-blue sweatshirt (KS1 and KS2) – no visible logos or branding please

Forest School

On their designated Forest School day, children should come to school wearing suitable old clothes that parents and carers do not mind getting dirty or muddy.

Forest School takes place outdoors in a range of weather conditions, so children should be dressed appropriately for the weather and for active outdoor learning.

Children should also bring:

• A change of suitable footwear – wellington boots are preferable

• A waterproof coat when required

• Additional warm layers during colder weather

Clothing worn for Forest School does not need to be school uniform or branded. Please choose practical, comfortable clothing that children can move freely in and that you are happy for them to get wet, muddy or dirty.

Please ensure that Forest School clothing and footwear are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Jewellery and Appearance

Nail varnish, make-up and fake tan should not be worn to school.

Jewellery should not normally be worn. If earrings are worn, they must be small stud earrings.

Jewellery must be removed for PE and swimming. Where a child cannot remove an item independently, parents and carers should ensure that it is removed before school on PE or swimming days.

Where necessary and safe to do so, earrings may be covered for PE in accordance with the school's risk assessment and staff instructions. Safety requirements for the particular activity will always take priority.

Long hair may need to be tied back for PE, practical activities or where there is a health and safety requirement.

If your child requires an adjustment to our usual uniform or appearance expectations because of disability, SEND, medical need, religion or belief, or another individual circumstance, please contact us so that we can discuss an appropriate arrangement.

Myrtle Park Uniform Hub

We are proud to have our own Myrtle Park Uniform Hub, providing good-quality pre-worn uniform to families.

Our Uniform Hub often has Myrtle Park branded sweatshirts and cardigans available, as well as other items of school uniform, subject to size and stock availability.

The Uniform Hub is available to all of our families. We encourage parents and carers to make use of it – whether this helps to reduce the cost of school uniform, provides a useful spare, or simply gives good-quality clothing another life.

We also warmly welcome donations of clean, good-quality uniform that children have outgrown so that it can be passed on to another Myrtle Park family.
